Except the sketches for sculptures, there is a clear separation between sculptures and drawings on paper. Whereas the statues were the product of constructive thought, based on his wonderful space perception, his drawings  and painting gave expression to his other side, to the introverted personality,  and his passionate side ,which refused to accept rules or restrictions. Many of his paintings were like a personal diary.
